Itinerary
Day 1: Pangkalan Bun - Kumai Port - Tanjung Harapan
Upon your arrival at Pangkalan Bun in Borneo, your guide will be ready to greet you at the airport. A short 15-20 minute drive will take you to the Kumai Port, where you'll embark on an exciting adventure aboard a speedboat. Your guide will ensure everything is in order with the captain before you set off on your cruise up the famous Sekonyer River.
Your first stop will be the Tanjung Harapan rehabilitation center. Here, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the national park rangers feed orangutans, allowing you to have your first up-close encounters with these incredible creatures. Tanjung Harapan, meaning Cape of Hope, is surrounded by wetlands, and in the afternoon, it tends to have more mosquitoes, so it's wise to use mosquito repellent. After visiting this Rangers Camp, you will return to your hotel. During the cruise, you'll likely spot groups of proboscis monkeys and monkeys in the treetops, along with crocodiles and lizards in the shallow waters along the riverbanks.

Day 2: Tanjung Harapan Village - Proboscis Tour - Camp Leakey
After breakfast, you'll visit Tanjung Harapan Village inside the national park to witness the local activities. Following your visit, you'll return to the speedboat for a cruise up the Sekonyer River. You'll enjoy the lush vegetation along the riverbanks, home to Nipa Palm, Pandanus, and various tree species. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as birds, Macaques, Proboscis Monkeys, and Orangutans.
The journey will take you to Camp Leakey, a renowned orangutan research and rehabilitation center. It was established in 1971 by Birutte Galdikas, a student at UCLA, under the guidance of the Paleoanthropologist Louis Leakey. This camp has played a pivotal role in rehabilitating and releasing orangutans back into the wild. You'll have the opportunity to explore the jungle with your guide to observe orangutans in their natural habitat.
At 2:00 PM, you can witness the feeding time of the orangutans and explore a small museum established by Dr. Birute Galdikas. After observing the orangutans and if weather conditions permit, a short jungle trek will take you back to the boat to search for wild orangutans and other animals. Your local guides, some of whom were born in the jungle, will share their knowledge of animal tracking, plant identification, and their experiences of jungle life.

Day 2: Pondok Tangguy - Camp Leakey
After breakfast, you'll head to Camp Tangguy for the morning feeding session at 9:00 AM. Watch as the orangutans gracefully arrive at the feeding platform from the treetops. Tanggui was originally a release camp for young rehabilitated orangutans. They continue to receive daily food to prevent them from straying outside the National Park, where they might fall into traps or enter palm oil plantations.
Following the orangutan feeding, you'll return to the speedboat, enjoying the changing scenery along the riverbanks. Look out for crocodiles, large lizards, Gibbons, and Proboscis Monkeys. You'll reach Camp Leakey once more, where you can explore the jungle interior in search of free-roaming orangutans and other wildlife.
At 2:00 PM, witness the orangutan feeding time once again and visit the small museum dedicated to Dr. Birute Galdikas. Weather permitting, you'll embark on a short jungle trek back to the boat, searching for wild orangutans and other animals along the way.
The jungles of Borneo have sustained generations of settlers, providing food, water, and medicines. However, it's important to follow your guide's advice and not consume anything without their recommendation. In the afternoon, if weather allows, the boat will dock near a congregation of fireflies, offering a mesmerizing display of their luminescence.

Day 4: End of the adventure
After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, our team will pick you up and escort you to the airport.
