Itinerary
Day 1: Balikpapan - Mahakam River
Welcome to Balikpapan, once a quaint fishing village built by Bugis people. Upon your arrival at Balikpapan airport, our guide will escort you to board a houseboat, setting the stage for a unique adventure along the Mahakam River. Delicious meals will be provided on board.

Day 2: Muara Muntai - Mancong - Tanjung Isuy - Muara Pahu
Today, we embark on a short sightseeing tour at Muara Muntai Wooden village. Afterward, we cross Jempang Lake by motor canoe to reach Mancong. Along the way, take in the beauty of the rainforest and its wildlife, including playful monkeys and vibrant birds. In Mancong, immerse yourself in the traditions of the Dayak Benuaq, one of East Kalimantan's oldest Dayak tribes. In the late afternoon, a motor canoe will take you to Tanjung Isuy for further exploration. Return to the houseboat for dinner and a peaceful overnight cruise to Muara Pahu.

Day 3: Muara Pahu - Kutai National Park
Arriving at Muara Pahu, we embark on a canoe journey up the Kedang Pahu River, lasting over an hour. Our destination is Mount Bayan, home to Terbisak Village. Here, you'll encounter the Dayak Benuaq tribe, known for their longhouses and unique traditions. Experience their way of life, including dry rice farming and hunting. As you continue downstream by canoe, be captivated by the exotic nature and wildlife that thrives along the riverbanks, from otters to endangered proboscis monkeys. As you approach the delta of the Belowan River, watch for the elusive freshwater dolphins. Return to the houseboat and cruise upstream to Melak.

Day 4: Tenggarong - Kutai National Park
Upon your arrival in Melak, embark on a Jeep or minibus ride to Eheng, passing through stunning highland landscapes. Here, you'll visit the old longhouses of the Dayak Tunjung, steeped in history and tradition. Afterwards, explore Kersik Luway and the surrounding forest, with a chance to spot the famous black orchid if luck is on your side. In the afternoon, journey to the spectacular Ombau Asa waterfall for a refreshing break before returning to Melak. Board your houseboat and continue downstream to Tenggarong.

Day 5: Kutai National Park - Balikpapan
Arrive in Tenggarong, where you'll have the opportunity to visit the former palace of Sultan Kutai Kertanegara. Explore the impressive collection of heirlooms, ceramics, and Dayak art and culture items that provide insight into the rich history of the region. Following your visit, our car will transfer you to Balikpapan airport for your onward flight to your next destination. Sampai Jumpa!
